TUTANKAMON |
|

|
- Niels J. 2000

:: I'll Say It Again |

Face to face with Tutankhamun’s brilliant golden
mask, you are hypnotized by the investigating and self-confident cool look in
the eyes of the young Pharaoh. And studying the details of the softly hammered
thick sheets of gold – decorated with masterly broad strokes of blue paint and
inlaid with faience, glass, feldspar, carnelian and lapis lazuli in radiant
shades of blue and green – you will be sure to tremble a bit, perhaps even shed
a tear, at the encounter with this extraordinary relic from the world beyond.
The spirited and lively look in the eyes of Tutankhamun cuts right through three
and a half millenniums – and on the brow sit the vulture and cobra, the latter
poised to spit fire at Pharaoh’s enemies. In one long breathless moment, the
king has surely regained his throne.
